(Forwarded from meet director Jeff Black)

Despite the early morning threats of rain and sloppy trails on Saturday morning, we had more than enough enthusiasm to tackle the Hull's Gulch terrain. All three of our 11am arrivals eagerly grabbed pens to mark off controls for the advanced course. Frank Kruesi not only cruised through all the wonderful elevation changes, but still had time to spot an old "TT" control nicely protected inside the rusty car halfway down from control 6. (It was a bit faded and had some cobwebs, but none the worse for the wear considering it was placed last May.) Andy and Elijah kept Frank on his toes, despite looming threats of cliff rappelling and killer brambles next to the creek out of control 4. Newcomer Ole Bergset, who last orienteered 35 years ago in Norway, took on wings to snag first place and came out laughing with breathless delight. (The tree, the tree!) Meanwhile, David and Tucker Smith came rolling in a bit later to take their best shot on the Intermediate course, tackling the first few controls when they realized the terrifying implications of a 1:15000 map...and the urgency to be on time for other Saturday afternoon activities. The course will still be there for you next time!
