Hi Orienteers!
It was perfect orienteering weather this Saturday for the Stewart Gulch West meet, cool and moist. Unfortunately the questionable weather conditions and a multitude of other activities going on kept attendance low. Again this year the Boise River Cleanup was the same day as our event, but at least this time we didn't have to contend with well meaning cleaner-uppers making off with our controls at the land locked Stewart Gulch location. A couple of participants had competed in a duathlon that morning. We appreciate their dedication and creativity in turning it into a run/bike/orienteering triathlon!

Nine year old Erik and Masha, ten, battled it out on the beginner course, with Erik showing very good results in his third orienteering event. On the advanced course Bill and Lee sought to share the pain and knowledge with less experienced loved ones, hopefully they've caught the bug! Lee & Lauren edged out the others in a close race. Doug came in without having punched the first control- he hadn't seen it and thought it had been taken. Masha and he quickly went out and verified it's existence and brought it in. The time recorded is his orignal finish time. Masha felt she still hadn't gotten enough exercise and decided to go out on a modified intermediate course. We couldn't talk her into doing the full intermediate course, so I did it when control picking to give Jeff D. some company.

Thanks to all who participated and see you next time! Stay tuned for more info from Sergey about the upcoming Oct.15 foothills combo event.
