Looking south to the start and finish
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Mini-Rogaine event at Rabbit Creek was well attended this year, with 27 participants out in the field in the rogaine, intermediate and beginner courses combined.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There were fourteen total participants on the challenging 4 hour mini rogaine.
Nine individual men
One team of three men
One team of one man and one woman
The winner's course covered approximately 25km in the difficult terrain, and included approximately 2800ft of climb.
No control was visited by everyone
Every control had at least two punches
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael Tobin
demonstrated for us all why he is the World Champion and we aren't!
http://www.eliteadventureteam.com/html/home.html
Michael was the only participant to reach all 27 controls in the allotted time and he was also first to return to the finish with 17 minutes still remaining!
We think it was a clean win, since no helicopters were seen over the course while he was on it.
Michael thought he had finished when he reached his last control, MR, closest to the finish and then took another look at his punch card. He noticed he still had to get P-9, so he ran out at least another 3 km round trip to bag it and still returned to the finish with time to spare!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jeff Black
recieves the award for the best effort by a mere mortal.
He missed only the distant and lonely P-9
Please see his exellent blow by blow description of the course as he ran it on his website:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lee Scott and Ole Bergset
battled it out for 3rd place with Lee beating out Ole by 2 minutes
However, Ole wins two awards:
The pure pure grit award for when he took the direct route from P-6 to P-7 going straight accross the deepest part of rabbit creek canyon, going 380ft straight down, 560 ft straight up, and then 360 ft straight down to the control all in about 1km horizontal distance. Ole also wins the award for time management, with 2 seconds remaining before receiving penalty points!
