Our third meet of the year was held on Saturday, April 29, 2000 on the new Stewart Gulch map. Course setter was Andy Hill. Conditions were quite windy (making for cold orienteers at the start), but very pleasant when out on the courses. As with the previous meet, turnout was pretty low (we actually had three other competitors run the Advanced course over the following week -- sans controls, survey tape only -- but as none of them gave me their time, I can't post 'em).

Three courses were set, a 5-control 2.10km beginner's course (with 65m of climb), a 6-control 2.95km intermediate course, and a 8-control 4.60km advanced course. Both the intermediate and advanced courses had significant (some would say excessive) amounts of climb, which came as quite a shock to those used to our city park maps. Bwaaa-ha-ha-ha!

Thanks go to Susie Vader and her Girl Scouts, who not only helped set controls on the beginner and intermediate courses, but had the start organized while the erstwhile meet director finished setting the advanced course controls. Unfortunately, an injury to one of their number (she decided to go somersaulting down one of the hills) prevented them from tasting the fruits of their labor.
