Orienteering at Simplot!

The weather was quite interesting, cold, warm, windy, beautiful, stormy, hail. I’ve heard it said: “If you don’t like the weather, just wait a few minutes”.
Kristin made it interesting by providing a “compass only course” (see map below), in which direction and distance to the control were the only information provided.
She also created a “line course” in which it was necessary to follow the line exactly and continuously watch for sequentially numbered controls. (Again see map below).
We had a GREAT turnout, despite the weather! There were 6 people still out on the “line course” when a nasty storm suddenly hit. High winds, sideways rain, and even hail! In just a few minutes EVERYONE returned to the start! That is why there are so many “did not finish” (DNF) notes.
We had a few first timers, a few second timers, and the usual veterans (Sergey: “I don’t need to take a map, let me just look at it for a minute, I’ll be fine”.)
And a good time was had by all.
