Our second meet of the year was held on Saturday, March 18, 2000 at Veteran's State Park. Course setter was Andy Hill. The rain that had been predicted earlier in the week didn't come to pass, and instead conditions were beautiful, with blue skies, light winds, and temperatures in the high forties. Strangely enough, turnout was pretty low (perhaps all of the regulars were getting yard work done).

Two courses were set, a 7-control 1.25km beginner's course, and a 12-control score course, with a 45 minute time limit. The relatively easy map, very open conditions, and too-long time limit turned the score course into a major foot race.

Our long-distance members Jack & Justin French (from Wells, Nevada) came up for their first meet. However, they ran like professionals, giving path-burner Jeff Black a real challenge. Rounding out the pack were the grinning duo of Dave & Tucker Smith and Frank "I'm gonna get all the controls, anyway, sue me" Kreusi.
