The first meet of the XXI century was held Saturday, January 20 at Veterans Park, Boise.
Fresh 5 to 6 inch snow and freezing temperatures attracted only most brave,
most courageous fans of the orienteering. Actually weather was very favorable for
orienteering giving unsurpassed chance to use tracks of the course setter. However,
he tried to make it difficult using old time tricks with loops and unexpected side
jumps. Everybody finished with big smiles and a will to come and experience once more
"all weather, no matter what" orienteering.
Even Andy Hill showed and left soon with a real excuse. Happy Birthday Andy!
The Advanced courses were set as a 2 loop farsta with total 5.15K, 23 controls. Jeff Black
and David Bergset showed good fit and speed making loops around the lake and finding all
23 controls. Looks like they are ready for real blue level course.
The Beginner course was a set as a classical 1.6K, 11 controls course.
Masha Velichko enjoyed snow very much and leaded her father through the prairies of the park. At one
moment she even outpaced Jeff who tried unsuccessfully to pass her on the way to the control.
Wrong dreams Jeff! Young generation is coming :)
