Hello fellow orienteers! Here are the results from this weekend's ski/snowshoe orienteering event up here in McCall. It was a glorious sunny day above the inversion, with a perfect temperature for cross country skiing (about 25 degrees). Much better conditions than last year's wet blizzard, or the previous year's near zero (fahrenheit) temps. Jeff continued his winning streak at the wintery version of orienteering that he started last year on snowshoes. Unfortunately time constraints prevented all but Eric Zuber from trying my challenge to combine both the advanced and intermediate courses for an extra workout. Jeff and Sergey did their own combo version by doing the advanced plus the beginner courses. There was ungroomed skier or snowshoer packed tracks and untracked cross country that had to be used to complete the courses, under the trees wet drips had made for difficult icy conditions. A tricky situation, but everyone seemed to enjoy the event. Hopefully I haven't scared people off from next month's skate-ski friendly event at Tamarack Resort. Thanks to all who helped with control pickup!
